Greetings to my Christ the King – St. Anthony Parish family,
As you know, we recently had to replace St. Anthony church’s furnace, an unexpected and costly endeavor. The estimate for all the parts and labor involved was between $55,000 and $60,000. Our bill came out closer to $101,000.
Here is a breakdown of our highest costs:
Actual furnace parts and accompanying equipment- $44,767.00
Heating the building while the furnace was out (equipment rental and installation, higher utility bills)- $13,550.00
Chimney lining- $9,575.00 (Thank goodness we got the chimney repointed last year, otherwise we may not have been able to use it!)
Through the solicitation of the attendees of the Extraordinary Form of the Mass ($46,000), as well as the generosity of our fellow parishioners ($19,000), we have raised $65,000 to offset these costs.
The parish has reserves that we can use to pay the rest, a majority of which is from our beloved former pastor Msgr. Roland Rivard’s bequest. However, using these reserves now means the summer maintenance I was hoping to get done (like repointing and painting), will need to be put on hold.
I have given $500.00 out of my personal monies to help the parish. I’m counting on you to continue to be so very supportive, so I can continue to take care of our parish buildings and grounds.
May God bless you all, especially as you continue through Lent and look forward to Easter.
